Momming Adult Kids: Denise Drinkwalter
Do you ever experience those days when everything seems to fall into place, and you’re on top of the world?
Glow Of Success In Midlife:
How does it feel when like luck is on your side, and you’re conquering every challenge with ease? How do you respond to these moments of triumph? Do you allow yourself to bask in the glow of success, or do you downplay your achievements, attributing them to mere luck or fleeting circumstances?
“If you find yourself dismissing your wins or hesitating to celebrate your accomplishments, it’s time to pause and reflect.”
If you find yourself dismissing your wins or hesitating to celebrate your accomplishments, it’s time to pause and reflect. Why do we, as women, sometimes struggle to acknowledge our successes and embrace the joy that comes with them? This question struck a chord with me recently, prompting me to explore the societal conditioning that often leads us to downplay our victories.
Celebrating Our Achievements:
We’ve been taught to believe that celebrating our achievements is egocentric or self-centered. But why should we deny ourselves the joy and satisfaction of a job well done? Who benefits from this mindset? Certainly not us. Imagine telling a friend, a child, or a loved one to refrain from celebrating their successes—would you ever utter such words? Of course not! So why do we impose these restrictions on ourselves?
It’s time to challenge these limiting beliefs and embrace a new mindset—one that honours our achievements and celebrates our successes without reservation. We owe it to ourselves, and to those within our “sphere of influence” to acknowledge our worth and value, both to ourselves and to the world around us.
So, what can we do to shift our perspective and start celebrating our wins more authentically?
4 Strategies To Up-level Your Success In Midlife:
1. Reflect on Your Achievements:
Take time to reflect on your past successes and the hard work that led to them. Recognize the effort, dedication, and perseverance it took to reach your goals. By acknowledging your achievements, you reinforce a positive self-image and cultivate a sense of pride in your accomplishments.
2. Practice Gratitude:
Cultivate a mindset of gratitude by expressing thanks for the blessings and successes in your life. Whether through journaling, meditation, or simply taking a moment to count your blessings, practicing gratitude can shift your focus from scarcity to abundance and empower you to celebrate the wins, big and small.
“Let’s rewrite the narrative and give ourselves the recognition and celebration we deserve.”
3. Surround Yourself with Support:
Surround yourself with a supportive community of friends, family, and mentors who celebrate your successes and uplift you during challenging times. Share your wins with them, and allow yourself to be celebrated and appreciated for your accomplishments. Remember, you don’t have to go it alone—celebrating together makes the victories even sweeter.
Break-Free:
It’s time to break free from the confines of self-doubt and embrace the power of celebrating our wins. Let’s rewrite the narrative and give ourselves the recognition and celebration we deserve. After all, our successes in midlife are a testament to our strength, resilience, and unwavering determination. So go ahead, celebrate your wins, and embrace the extraordinary woman you are.
What changes will you make within yourself to start celebrating your wins more fully and authentically? The power lies within you to rewrite the script and embrace a new era of self-love, self-respect, and self-celebration.
