Mara has been in the jewelry business for close to 30 years, beginning her career at Saks Fifth Avenue in their Executive training program where she was randomly placed in the fashion/bridge gold jewelry buying office. She caught the jewelry bug, became a designer jewelry/watch buyer and took on increased merchandising responsibilities during her15 year tenure.

Next, Mara joined Hearst Magazines as Global Director of Brand Development licensing and marketing their magazines brands of Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Harpers Bazaar, and Marie Claire. Mara then was recruited as Group President of the $250 million Jones NY jewelry group leading brands including 9West, Anne Klein, Givenchy, & Judith Jack among others. For the last 10 years, Mara has worked for large $100+ million family owned businesses building their designer jewelry divisions through licensing partnerships with Christian Siriano, Isaac Mizrahi, The Sak, Laundry by Shelli Segal and Daisy Fuentes among others.

Three and a half years ago, when Mara’s beautiful fashionista mom suddenly became more housebound her dad wanted her to wear an emergency alert pendant. He bought five different types and her mom refused to wear any of the unattractive plastic pendants. She instinctively said “Mara, you’ve been in the jewelry business over 25 years, can’t you make me something beautiful to wear in case of an emergency?” With that request the idea of Trelawear (trela is alert spelled backward) was born.

Please help me welcome Mara and her complete TRELAWEAR collection of beautifully designed personal emergency alert pendants to Kuel Life.
