Living My Truth – Leslie, 47

0

This is Leslie Perez. It is no coincidence that she and I (Jack) share the same last name. Could I really launch an online community for women and not include my ‘baby’ sister? This “Share Your Story” is particularly close to my heart.

There is power in story telling. There is power in community. There is power in sharing. The more we know about one another; the more we understand; the more powerful we become.

We invite all of the KuelWomen out there to share their stories with us.

Here is Leslie’s.

KUEL LIFE: What are you pursuing now, after 45, that surprises you or might appear to others as if it’s come out of left field?
LESLIE: Being married to a woman.

KUEL LIFE: What’s a typical day like for you?
LESLIE: Work, driving kid, managing kid, cooking & cleaning, errands (managing household).

KUEL LIFE: With what do you struggle?
LESLIE: Having enough time to reboot and refresh.

KUEL LIFE: How do you motivate yourself and stay motivated?
LESLIE: Remind myself  how good it feels to be successful (whatever the goal may be) and to keep my eye on the prize

KUEL LIFE: What advice would you give fellow women about aging?
LESLIE: Ignore it and move forward. You are awesome no matter what!

KUEL LIFE: What does vulnerability mean to you? What has the ability to make you vulnerable?
LESLIE: Feeling like I am not my best (me, mother, wife, friend, etc.).  Not being able to achieve my goals.

KUEL LIFE: What are three events that helped to shape your life?
LESLIE: Moving to California, having my son, and choosing a female life partner.

KUEL LIFE: Who influenced you the most in life and why?
LESLIE: My sister. The one person always by my side that I could always count on for anything.

KUEL LIFE: What is the best advice you’ve been given from another woman?
LESLIE: Do the right thing and the rest will fall into place even when it doesn’t seem like it.

KUEL LIFE: What woman inspires you and why?
LESLIE: Oprah, (I know that is cliche) because of the amount of power and influence one person can have over (probably all women) and with such longevity.

KUEL LIFE: Are you grown-up?
LESLIE: Absolutely not.

KUEL LIFE: What do you do for self-care?
LESLIE: Cook and spend quality time with my wife.

KUEL LIFE: And last but definitely NOT least: What are the top three things on your bucket list?
LESLIE: Live on an island, work with food and wine in some way, and participate in some large competition (marathon perhaps).
