Midlife Musings: Debra Johnstone
Welcome to Week One: Discover Chair Yoga
What is Chair Yoga?
Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. It’s designed to make yoga accessible to everyone, regardless of their physical condition, flexibility, or age. This form of yoga allows participants to enjoy the benefits of stretching, breathing, and moving without having to get down on the floor.
Who Can Do It?
Chair Yoga is perfect for anyone, especially those in midlife and beyond, or individuals who are managing health issues that make traditional yoga poses challenging. It’s ideal for those with mobility limitations, balance issues, or anyone who finds standing exercises strenuous. If you’re looking for a gentle yet effective way to improve your health, Chair Yoga is for you.
“No previous yoga experience is required, making it perfect for beginners or those returning to exercise.”
How Difficult Is It?
One of the beauties of Chair Yoga is its adaptability. It can be as easy or as challenging as needed, depending on the individual’s comfort and capability levels. The exercises are designed to be accessible and can be modified to increase or decrease intensity. No previous yoga experience is required, making it perfect for beginners or those returning to exercise.
