Old friends "get us". They have a better understanding of who we are now because they understand and remember who we were and where we're from. They know our idiosyncrasies. We don't have to explain ourselves when we react a certain way in times of conflict or joy. They already know how we're going to show up. They’re not surprised when we tell them, out of the clear blue, that we’re quitting our job and traveling around the world because they remember us mentioning it to them when we were 16. The only way to have this wonderful collection of old friends is by being on the planet ... year after year... Here's to our amazing collection, may we care for and enjoy them.
