Time To Reinvent: Beverley Glazer
Life doesn’t always play fair. And midlife’s hardest moments can knock us around.
There are moments when it feels like the ground has been pulled out from under you, when everything familiar shifts, leaving you in chaos. It might be a loss, a betrayal, or an unexpected challenge that tests everything you thought you knew. These moments are undeniably hard. But here’s the truth: they also hold incredible potential for growth.
5 Steps To Turn Midlife’s Hardest Moments Into Your Greatest Strength:
The secret to transforming pain into power is belief.
Belief keeps hope alive, even when the way forward isn’t clear. Over the years, I’ve coached countless clients who have faced life’s toughest challenges, and one thing is always true: those challenges, when met with resilience, become catalysts for change. These women didn’t just survive. They found strength they didn’t know they had, and discovered a version of themselves they never imagined.
Here are five steps inspired by their journeys to help you turn your hardest moments into your greatest strength:
1. Stop Fighting The Pain :
Your first instinct when life gets hard is to resist, to push back against the circumstances and fight reality. But the people who rise from adversity ask different questions. They ask, “What can I learn from this? How can this experience shape me for the better?”
“When you focus on gaining, wisdom, resilience, and new perspective—you take back control.”
The most resilient people I know aren’t immune to pain. They’ve learned how to lean into it and find strength in the process.
2. Reconnect With Joy :
Pain often makes you feel disconnected from what makes life worth living. But healing begins when you reconnect with what lights you up. Joy doesn’t erase pain, but it gives you the strength to carry it. Ask yourself, ‘What brings me a sense of peace, happiness, or creativity?’ It could be painting, gardening, writing, or even something as simple as spending time in nature.
Reclaiming joy is an act of self-discovery.
3. Ask Better Questions:
It’s easy to fall into the loop of asking, why is this happening to me? But the people who rise from adversity ask different questions. Try asking, what can I learn from this? How can this experience shape me for the better? When you focus on gaining, wisdom, resilience, or a new perspective—you take back control.
4. Build Your Support System:
Resilience is never built alone. The strongest people I know are those who lean on others during their hardest times. Think about who you can turn to for support—a trusted friend, a coach, or a community. When you let people into your experience, you create a network of strength that helps to carry you through.
“Resilience is never built alone.”
5. Take One Small Step:
Change doesn’t happen overnight. It starts with small, consistent steps. You don’t need to have everything figured out; just focus on the next right move. Maybe it’s writing down your thoughts, calling someone you trust, or even just getting up and taking a walk. Each step builds momentum, and before you know it, you’re walking a brand-new path.
Midlife Pain isn’t here to destroy you—it’s here to challenge you, to help you grow, and to open doors to a stronger, more aligned version of yourself. Belief is what gets you through it. All you need is to reach out and accept the gift that’s waiting on the other side of the pain.
