The food we eat affects our energy levels, this is obvious.
Invisible Life-Force Energy:
The more nourishing food we eat the healthier we feel. I also look at energy in another, some might call it, a more spiritual way, too.
“It is this life force that brings the fuel to our own unique flickering flame.”
As a complementary therapist who started her journey over 30 years ago as an Acupuncturist, I believe that the invisible life-force energy that runs through us and bathes our being is the foundation of our health and well-being.
This is the life force that becomes unique to us when we take our first breath and then leaves us with our last breath. It is this life force that brings the fuel to our own unique flickering flame. Our own expression of the greater creative force of the universe. Some people might call this life, love, God, Goddess, the universe, creativity or something else.
We Call This Health:
When our inner flickering flame is strong and consistent we shine brightly in all ways, we feel physically vital, our mind is sharp, our emotions open and balanced and our spirits creative and expressive; we call this health.
Sugar and many other ultra-processed foods, in my view, dampen down this inner flickering flame. Of course a little of these occasionally doesn’t affect us too much but daily sugar and ultra-processed foods are a drain on the wholeness of who we are, leading to parts of us slowly shutting down. The effect can be that we almost fall asleep, drugged and life-less, a dampened down version of our potential.
My Own Sugar-Free Journey:
For me on my own sugar-free journey, (now at 6 years) I experienced the opposite, a slow waking up, a fresh clarity of mind and spirit, a sense of the energy drain or veil being lifted away, so I could really see who I was. I felt more connected to my intuitive self, I could hear the inner whispers again. This was my journey to wholeness, the wholeness of who I truly am ….and I know from chatting to other people, that many others have felt this too.
Unfortunately, we seem to live in a world where the opposite is happening on a massive scale. The fear-based human herd mentality based on our survival instinct encourages us to shut down our individual expression, it just feels too risky. This is alongside the feeling that we are being ‘medicated’ with food by the food industry, who have their profits rather than our health at the forefront of their minds.
It can feel that our individual unique flickering flames are being extinguished by the call to conform by our governments and the masses and yet, just as fire energy rises, reaching upwards, the call to express ourselves is still there for us all. We all have something unique to bring to the beautiful pot of human consciousness.
So what can we do and how can we eat day-to-day to create more connection to our unique, inner flickering flame?
“This connects us back to the rhythm of the land.”
Create More Connection To Our Unique, Inner Flickering Flame:
1. We are unique:
First recognize that we are unique, there is no one size fits all, just a set of principles that generally support us to thrive rather than just survive. Claiming this is massive in itself.
2. Choose whole foods:
Choose more food that creates flow in our energy; vegetables, whole fruit, whole grains, nuts and seeds and natural fats.
3. Buy local:
Choose more locally produced food or trying growing some of your own.
4. Eat seasonally:
Eat with the season and shop at local farmer’s markets. This connects us back to the rhythm of the land.
5. Add in a sprinkle of love when you cook and bless your food before you eat.
Blessing food doesn’t have to be religious, it can be a quiet, internal thank you for all the people who may have contributed to the meal, known and unknown or to the Earth for sharing its bounty.
6. Stay away from foods that slow you down.
Choose less food that slows flow and eventually creates stagnation in the body; processed food, meat, dairy, wheat products, caffeine, alcohol, processed carbohydrates and sugar.
Raise Your Life-Force Energy A Little At A Time:
7. Pay attention to how you feel.
Become conscious of how food effects you, what makes you feel good and what doesn’t. I always recommend a food diary for this as most of us cannot remember details of how we feel week to week.
8. Be kind to yourself.
Be kind to yourself whatever you eat, remember you are doing your best. How we feel about the food we eat affects us just as much as the food itself.
9. Take it one step at a time.
Raise your energy a little at a time by changing how you eat one meal/one snack at a time. Notice the difference, feel the difference and celebrate it.
10. Find other ways to lift your life-force.
Nourish your precious life-force energy in ways other than food; simple uplifting experiences that open our heart and lighten our soul. This can be simple activities such as walking in nature, chatting to a friend or becoming absorbed in a craft activity.
By changing one of these you start to re-nourish your life-force energy, you start the journey back to your version of wholeness.
