If you are done wearing painful high heels shoes just to look a few inches taller, this it for you.
Since moving to New York, my idea of what comfortable shoes really are, has changed. If my shoes are going to stop me from running to catch a train, they aren’t for me. But, I also don’t want to compromise on style.
As a 5’3” woman and stylist, I have learnt what to look for when buying the perfectly stylish and comfortable pair of shoes.
“Metallics attract light and tend to work almost like a nude.”
5 Tips To Help You Find The Right Shoe:
1. Platforms Are My Go To. But Not Just Any Platform:
They need to be more like a flatform, meaning they are flat, but with a thicker sole. Think funky sneaker with extra height. Yup, I have the same shoe in four colors and I’m ordering my 5th one as we speak.
2. Pay Attention To The Arch:
If you want more of a platform and less of a flatform, make sure the arch of the shoe is not dramatic. A dramatic arch can make them super uncomfortable and hard to walk in.
3. Look For The Tilt:
When the sole in the front of the shoe tilts upward slightly, I find it creates almost like a rocking motion, making them easier to walk in.
4. If You Can’t Wear Platform Shoes, Wear Nude Flat Shoes:
Nude shoes are very elongating. Find a pair in your perfect nude that suits your complexion and it will make your shoe look like an extension of your leg. So even if you are wearing flats, it will make your legs appear longer.
5. Metallic Shoes Work Well Too:
Metallics attract light and tend to work almost like a nude. Plus, they go with everything. Anytime I don’t know what shoe to wear with my outfit, I always opt for a metallic. They also tend to be eye catching, drawing the eye down your body which creates an elongating effect.
