Fashion Fridays, Kuel Life Thought Leader: Tracy Gold
Remember the days when there was just one style of jeans and we all had to wear them whether we looked good in them or not?
Not anymore. But, with all the choices it makes it super confusing to figure out which cut works best for you.Â
4 Best Jeans for Petites:
In this Part Two (you can read Part One: Best Jeans For Women Over 50 here)of the series on jeans, I share tips on how to find your perfect cut for your body shape and how to wear them.
1. Wide Leg:
I love the wide leg as it works so well for various body shapes, but there are some tricks to wearing them with style. Â
“If it’s volumous every where, it is going to give you unwanted bulk and no shape.”
The Shape:
Ensure you get a wide leg that fits in the waist and hip and then flares out. This will work wonders to balance your curves and make your legs look longer. If it’s volumous every where, it is going to give you unwanted bulk and no shape. The length is important. If it’s too long and pools at the hem, it can make your legs look shorter. If you want to wear a flat shoe and a very high heeled shoe, it’s worth getting two pairs and cutting them different lengths. Hem them so that they just touch your shoe for a elongated look.
What To Wear With A Wide Leg:
Since you have the volume of the wide leg, it’s important to balance the look with shorter, fitted tops. If you feel comfy, tucked in tops can really work wonders to make your legs look super long. If not, wear shapely tops that are no longer than two inches below your waistband.Â
2. Bootleg:
Bootleg can work wonders to balance your hips and butt while making your legs look longer. The great thing about bootleg is that you can wear a high heel shoe and no one will know since most of your shoe is covered. Again, the length is important. Hem your jeans so that they just touch your shoe for an elongated look.
What To Wear With A Bootleg:
To balance the volume of the flare, you need to wear shapely tops in shorter lengths. Long, baggy tops are going to make you look dowdy. Tops that follow your curves and end about two inches below your waistband or just below the widest part of your tummy are perfect. Even better, tuck in your tops if it works for your shape.

3. Slim Leg:Â
Slim leg looks similar to a skinny, but it’s a bit wider in the leg, giving you a balanced look.Â
What To Wear With A Slim Leg:Â
This is where you can play with tops a little more, but still be careful of very shapeless block like tops. They don’t look great on anyone.
4. Skinny:
The skinny has been with us for so long that it is a classic. I like the skinny, but not the painted on type of skinny. For a classic look, opt for a fitted pair that shows off the shape of your legs, but doesn’t look like you can’t breathe in them.
What To Wear With A Skinny:
This is where you can wear the dress over jeans look, a longer blazer or duster, but again, always opt for styles that nip in the waist as this balances your curves and makes your legs look longer.Â
This is also a great style to show off those gorgeous shoes you have in your closet as the length won’t cover them.
