Beauty Thought Leader: Elise Marquam-Jahns
Here are three great new products for those of us over 45 that will brighten your day even more!
I have a new eye shadow, face product, and lip product to share with you today that I think are pretty amazing.
Let’s Have Some Fun With Products:
I decided to become a professional makeup artist specializing in helping those of us over 45 look our best when I happened to see a makeup transformation on the TV show What Not To Wear. Do any of you remember that show? In the middle of the show Carmindy who was the makeup artist. Would do a makeover and often the older women who experienced the makeover would look in the mirror.
“Many were like me on the verge of tears when they saw the transformation.”
After the makeover and be amazed by what they saw. And many were like me on the verge of tears when they saw the transformation. It’s when I saw Courtney’s makeover that it hit me. I thought “This is what I want to do during my ‘second act’. I want to help women over 45 look and feel their best. This is why I love sharing with you makeup tips, techniques and products that can truly help us look our best. And why I launched my YouTube channel.
So now let’s have some fun with products that I’m very excited about and hope you will be too. I usually start with eyes since there’s no way we can avoid some powder fall out when we apply powder eyeshadow. But today we’ll be applying a cream eyeshadow. So let’s start with the face. In the accompanying video, I completed all my skin prep. Applied my Benefit Porefessional primer to help minimize the look of my pores.
And the RMS Face primer on the rest of my face. So now let me share with you the first product I wanted to focus on today. It’s a product from the clean beauty brand Doll 10. And it’s their TCE Super Coverage Makeup. And by the way, the TCE stands for “This covers everything.”
Super Coverage:
Now I’ll be very honest. My immediate reaction when I see or hear the words “super coverage”. Or “full coverage” is that the foundation will feel heavy and perhaps look cakey. And I have a hunch I’m not the only one who would have this reaction. But this foundation absolutely left me stunned.
It not only does an amazing job of covering imperfections (including age spots). But it also looks natural and does not feel the least bit heavy. And it truly lasts all day. I have dry skin, but I’ve heard others who have oily and combination skin say that is also works for them. And you only need a very small amount. One woman wrote in her review of this product: “This is the best coverage ever. No one sees the makeup, only perfection.” But rather than keep talking about it, let me show you in the accompanying video:
Merit Products:
Next, I’ll quickly add some contour, blush and highlighter and then move onto the second product. Which is cream eyeshadow from the clean beauty brand Merit. I’ve really enjoyed almost all of the Merit products I’ve tried. Especially their blushes and highlighters. But today I’m going to wear their newest product which is a matte eye cream.
Merit calls these their “Solo” shadows and they can easily be “one and done” eyeshadows.” Or if you prefer, you can combine several colors. They come in four neutral shades: “Studio,” which is a cool taupe. “Vachetta” which is a warm beige (which I have). “Midcentury” which is a warm brown (that I also have). And “Brun” which is a deep brown. They call the other four colors their “Statement” colors: “Social” which is a soft mauve. “Viper” which is a warm green. “Nelson” which is a soft gray and “Midnight”(which I have) which is a classic navy.
“They’re easy to blend and you have time to blend them before they dry down.”
They provide a sheer wash of color that can be layered for more depth. And they can be applied with the fingers or a brush. They’re easy to blend and you have time to blend them before they dry down. But once they do dry down, they stay put and don’t crease. It is important to click the tops of these products in place so they don’t dry out. And you definitely hear a very audible click when you tighten the top. But the proof is in the pudding, so let me show you how easy these Merit Solo Shadows are to apply.
Glosses From Lawless:
Most of the time you’d probably only apply one of these eyeshadows for a quick and easy look, but I want to try out several of these colors so in the video I’ll combine them. I’ll put “Vachetta”—the warm beige—on my lids, the shade “Midcentury”—which is the warm brown—in my crease and then I’ll use the navy blue called “Midnight” on the outer part of my lid and my outer crease. I’m going to use this navy as my eyeliner and I’ll apply that off camera along with my mascara.
Let’s finish up with the third product I’m obsessed with—a lipstick from the clean beauty brand Lawless. In previous videos, I’ve also shared my love of the glosses from Lawless and I’ll be using one of those in just a moment. But first I’ll apply my L’Oreal Age Perfect Lip liner. The Lawless lipstick I have is the shade “Little Lady Daisy.” I love the feel of this lipstick—it’s soft and comfortable—and the shade is beautiful—but I’m going to combine it with my new Ciati London lipstick in the shade “Elektra’ to create the shade I want. And I’ll finish up with the Lawless gloss shade called “Baby Love” which is a lovely soft pink.
It’s always a treat to find some outstanding new makeup products and these three products are definite “wins.”
