Sexuality Thought Leader: Beth Keil
Something is happening, and it will impact the next 100 years!
It brings with it many changes, especially to our intimate relationships. Astrologically we are shifting away from the Martian (Mars) energy of having to be productive, the need to be right, and measuring our self-worth by how much we accomplish, accumulate, or acquire.
Translation, please. It started on October 22, 2022, when The Venus Star Point® moved from Scorpio (ruled by Mars) into Libra (ruled by Venus).
Please note: This blog is not about astrology but uses astrology as a tool to help you understand fundamental shifts that are going on.
These shifts include moving away from the ingrained fear that we won’t have the right answer or will be judged and then made wrong. Such fears lead many to feel defensive, especially when faced with conflict.
When You’re Defensive:
“Venus brings together all kinds of differences while creating harmony and balance.”
- Do you withdraw?
- Do you push others away by pointing out their flaws?
When this happens, notice how fast intimacy and connection evaporate. In their place, you emotionally armor and distance yourself. With armor on, you become impenetrable.
As we move away from the Martian energy, we shift towards the Venusian (Venus) of love, connection, and beauty! Venus brings together all kinds of differences while creating harmony and balance. Unlike Mars, this doesn’t lead to judgment or defensiveness, but to a desire to understand, connect, and co-create with others.
Raine Eisler, a noted social systems scientist and cultural historian, has researched and written on relationship models in various cultures, and coined the terms “dominator” and “partnership” to describe them.
Using Eisler’s terms, this shift from Mars in Scorpio to Venus in Libra moves us from a dominator-controlling relationship model to power-with partnerships.
The Power-Over Model:
“This model has you judge your body, whether you’re desirable”
The power-over model feeds fear. For instance, you might be afraid that you don’t have the right answer, or aren’t successful, or that you’re not enough. Maybe you fear you never will be.
This model has you judge your body, whether you’re desirable, and what is acceptable for being a sexually expressive woman. Such fears cause us to react defensively, many times unconsciously. As a result, you stop yourself from being vulnerable and deeply connected, which are at the heart of being in intimate relationships!
The Venusian Power Of With Model:
“Creating power-with relationships is an active process.”
Venus invites you to create power-with relationships. It means shedding fears and letting go of defensiveness whenever there’s conflict. What if I get it wrong? This is the old model talking!
Creating power-with relationships is an active process. Such processes provide ongoing feedback, letting you know how it is unfolding. It becomes an open question as you gather more and more information and change accordingly.
Instead of looking for the right answers, it becomes an ongoing exploration, freed from right/wrong thinking, you become an explorer on a big adventure!
If you’ve had experiences or traumas that make you wary of close relationships, you may be surprised to learn there are many ways to help these issues – including hypnosis. If you are looking for more resources, check out the author’s bio.
