Kathy Mela On Navigating Grief In Midlife with Compassion and Intention:
KUELLIFE: What type of business do you own/run?
Kathy: I run a service-based business that offers coaching and mentoring for healthy grieving through loss and life transitions, as well as patient health advocacy. I guide women, especially those in their third season of life, through change with compassion, intention, and a one-degree shift toward healing and thriving
KUELLIFE: What prompted you or drove you to become an entrepreneur? When?
Kathy: My entrepreneurial journey began in my early 50s, when I stepped into a new leadership role while exploring a side hustle with a wellness-focused MLM company. That experience introduced me to personal growth from a fresh perspective.
I fell in love with the win-win model of service and empowerment. As I dug deeper, I realized I wanted to be a coach and mentor; someone who could help others understand the incredible power of their own minds. Everything begins with a thought, and once we realize we can choose which thoughts to focus on—BOOM—that’s where the magic begins.
How Kathy Mela Helps Women Navigate Grief In Midlife With Purpose:
KUELLIFE: What’s your biggest struggle?
Kathy: My biggest struggle is visibility, getting in front of the women I’m here to serve. I’m always seeking meaningful ways to connect with my audience and speak directly to their hearts and needs.
KUELLIFE: What is your biggest fear as an entrepreneur? How do you work through it?
Kathy: Imposter syndrome, hands down. There’s often this assumption that coaches, mentors, and thought leaders “have it all together.” But we’re human, too. Every time I work with a client, I pause and wonder, “Is what I’m sharing really helping?”
Then someone shares their breakthrough or reflects on how my intuitive listening or presence made a difference, and I’m reminded why I do this. If I can help even one person move a little closer to thriving, that fear loses its grip.
Lens Of Integrity:
KUELLIFE: How do you measure your success?
Kathy: Success, for me, is measured through the lens of integrity. Am I living and leading in alignment with who I truly am and what I believe in? Some days, the honest answer is no; but then I take a breath, recalibrate, and come back into alignment. That’s success: not perfection, but presence and purpose
KUELLIFE: Finally, what advice would you give other women about taking an entrepreneurial path?
Kathy: If you feel the pull toward entrepreneurship, don’t let anyone steal your dream! This path requires courage, commitment, consistency, and a good dose of discernment and discipline. But if your heart is in it, take the next step. Then the next. Trust that each step is shaping something beautiful.
