Help Me Welcome Elaine Blais:
KUELLIFE: What type of business do you own/run?Â
Elaine: I’m a solo-preneur; The Imperfection Alchemist, Life Coach and Author who practices and teaches The Art of Self-Approval. The purpose is to help humans, mostly women, move beyond perfectionism. And into their unique and wildly imperfect selves so they can live more freely and fulfilling lives.
KUELLIFE:Â What prompted you or drove you to become an entrepreneur? When?Â
Elaine: I had a corporate career for nearly 25 years. Much of what I did was customer service focused, along with communications and employee engagement and all of this taught me how to listen to people, not just what they say but how they say it and how their thoughts and beliefs shape the experience they have in the workplace.
“I was determined to redefine success on my own terms.”
I started to realize that I had a greater purpose in this world helping others see this for themselves. In 2015 I exited my corporate career for life coaching. I was determined to redefine success on my own terms. It hasn’t always been easy, and at time frustrating, and it’s the most fun and rewarding work I’ve done in my life.Â
Intentional Process:
KUELLIFE: What’s your biggest struggle?
Elaine: That’s my own struggles with perfectionism and people-pleasing. When I decided to leave corporate, I had to do a lot of inner work to really step into this new life and let go of what I thought I should be or do to be accepted in the world. Anytime we make a change we have to let go of who we’ve been being, the old identity, to live into the new and for me that has become an intentional process.Â
KUELLIFE: What is your biggest fear as an entrepreneur? How do you work through it?Â
Elaine: That I’m not enough – don’t now enough, not good enough. No matter what issues a client presents with, at the heart of it is a lack of self-love, a lack of appreciation for how amazing each one of us is. I’m no different, but I’ve been willing to do the self-reflection and discovery work to move beyond these limitations.
Most of us weren’t taught to love and care for ourselves, but we can give ourselves and be for ourselves the love we didn’t receive. We have to understand what it is exactly that we want and need…this isn’t always an easy task if you learned to dismiss your needs and wants. It means we have to feel the feelings we’ve been avoiding for much of our lives.Â
“You can’t serve others by hiding yourself..”
Growing Personally And Professionally:
KUELLIFE: How do you measure your success?Â
Elaine: The first measure of success for me is liking myself and who I am being in the world. That means I’m always growing personally and professionally, and to be prosperous in all areas of my life, including financially because let’s be honest, money funds the mission.Â
KUELLIFE: Finally, what advice would you give other women about taking an entrepreneurial path?Â
Elaine: Be yourself…unapologetically. It’s the only way for people to truly know you and what you’re about, and show for up. You can’t serve others by hiding yourself, and the parts of yourself that you perceive as flawed are exactly what make you beautifully unique. Embrace them and the right people will find you.Â
