Food For Your Soul: Dawn McGee
Honoring your intuition in midlife can lead to bold, fulfilling change—especially when you finally permit yourself to integrate the parts of your life that once felt separate.
As we move into the end of the year, I’m thinking back on how my life and business have changed throughout 2025–and preparing to step into a new chapter in 2026. Maybe you find yourself in a similar place and can leverage some of my lessons learned in your own life.
Where I Started
I have spent over 35 years as a successful businesswoman in the corporate world. It was a great chapter of my career–it taught me so much. And yet, I knew I had more to offer.
When I stepped into entrepreneurship as a parallel path, becoming a Wellness professional, that was an exciting shift. I’ve been doing both, now, for over 20 years. The Wellness field has given me the chance to explore my passion for helping people on an individual level. It brings me so much joy to watch my clients create healthy, joyful lifestyles with my support.
But I was keeping these two halves of my career separate.
I don’t know why. I just saw them as two different parts of myself–totally unrelated.
This is where my intuition comes in.
My Mindset Shift
I realized that both business and wellness are intrinsically linked for me.
I’m even more focused on my characteristics of being a businesswoman now than when I worked in a corporate environment. As an entrepreneur, I’ve come to understand business on an even deeper level.
Wellness was a part of my life long before it became my career. My commitment to a healthy lifestyle has informed every aspect of my life–and especially the way I have shaped my business.
So it only makes sense that I bring my business knowledge into my wellness practice.
Honoring Your Intuition in Midlife
Throughout 2025, I’ve worked with my personal business coach to combine the two. I began offering coaching to Wellness Professionals to help them get unstuck, enjoy their lives, and grow their businesses.
So often, Wellness Professionals get into business because they are passionate about their specialty, about helping others. But with most of their certifications, there is barely a mention about how to take that talent and turn it into a successful business. That’s where I come in.
I’m not giving up my private practice. I still work with clients who have complex health stories and want to get back to enjoying their life. I’m still passionate about that work! In addition, I now provide 1:1 coaching, as well as a group program, tailored to the needs of Wellness Professionals.
The Takeaway
It was a leap of faith that people would respond to this new program–and they have. Clearly, this is really needed in our industry.
This is what happens when you honor your intuition. It may take time, but your life will flourish in beautiful and unexpected ways. Trusting your intuition isn’t easy. So often in life, we’re taught to avoid risks and take the well-worn path. But deep down, you know what you need. You know what brings you joy and a sense of fulfillment.
Don’t be afraid to listen. Open yourself up to whatever wisdom your intuition has to offer. Embrace something new in the coming year. I’ll be here to cheer you on.
