Want to know how to dress for a menopausal body and actually feel good in your clothes? These powerful style tips will change the game.
It can feel like your body has changed overnight during perimenopause and menopause. The bloating, the extra inches around your belly and the disappearance of your waist. While all of these things are normal, how do you adapt your style to your changing body.
How to Dress for a Menopausal Body: Start with Confidence in the Closet:
I have found that the clothes we choose to wear during this time makes a huge difference to how we feel about our bodies. If you dress to flatter the body you have today, it makes it easier to not obsess over it or give into the temptation to give up on style all-together.
Remember, your body isn’t failing you—it’s evolving. Dressing for a menopausal body isn’t about hiding or covering up; it’s about choosing pieces that celebrate who you are today. When you invest in styles that flatter your changing shape, you’re sending yourself a powerful message: I deserve to feel good in my skin, every single day.
So how can you adapt your style?
Since most of us see the greatest change in our bellies, here are my top three ways to disguise your belly.
3 Ways To Flatter Your Menopausal Body Shape:
1. Detract Attention:
Don’t try to cover it up, detract attention from it. This is one of the hardest things for us to learn. Trying to cover up your belly often just makes you look big everywhere. Instead, detract attention away from your belly by defining your waist.
You can do this in various ways:
- Wear a wide belt slightly higher than your natural waist. Most women belt incorrectly; they wear it too low. Wear a wide belt almost above your natural waist. This will make your waist appear smaller and de-emphasize your tummy.Â
- Wear clothing that nips the waist. A fitted vest or jacket is an easy way to do this. It gives more shape to your shapeless items, draws the eye down the body and away from across your belly.
2. Prints Are Your Best Friends:
Prints in shapely clothing are your best friends. Many women think that prints make them look bigger. Prints only make you look bigger when you are wearing them in shapeless garments. Shapely doesn’t have to be tight, it just has to have some shape.
3. Are You Busty?
If you are busty, check that you are wearing the right bra. This can make a big difference. If your girls are hanging too low, it makes your tummy and your girls look like one. If you wear a bra that gives you the right support, it can take inches off your look and gives you a waist.
