So how can we look our very best and do it in just 10 minutes?
The key is to focus on four steps. I’ll talk about all four steps to create your 10 Minute Out-the-Door Personalized Makeup Routine first and then I’ll demonstrate the steps on myself in the video so you can see it in action.
What I find especially exciting about this process is that it’s personalized because the steps are based on the answers you give to four questions—so your responses will most likely not be the same as my responses.
Four Important Questions To Answer:
So let’s get started:
Question #1: What is your best facial feature? This is important to know so you can spend the most time highlighting your best feature during your ten-minute routine. For instance, perhaps you have amazing, beautiful full lips or you always receive compliments on your eyes. Focusing more time on this best feature will most likely yield your most beautiful makeup results.
Question #2: What is your least favorite facial feature or the feature that you find most challenging? Though we don’t want to spend much time on this feature, we’ll still need to take at least a little time to address it. So, for instance, perhaps you have developed some age spots or discoloration on your skin. What’s the best way to address this issue without spending a boatload of time on it?
Question #3: Where do I have the least amount of facial contrast? We need to think about the results of a recent research study. The research study concluded that what makes us most attractive to other people is the amount of facial contrast we have. But as we get older, we lose facial contrast. For instance, our eyebrows become lighter and our skin and lips become paler. So, we definitely need to allocate some time to create more facial contrast in the area where we have the least facial contrast.
For example, if your eyebrows have become quite a bit lighter, sparser or grey, you may wish to include a step to fill in your brows to provide more contrast with your skin color. This can make a huge difference in helping us look our best and is one of the easiest things we can do. Or, perhaps your lips have grown paler and you have very little facial contrast between your skin and your lips. If this is the case, you may want to try out a new lip color or blush color that will provide more facial contrast, complement your skin undertone and bring new radiance to your face. (And by the way, although the “nude lip” look is a huge trend, it may not be the best choice for us since it provides very little contrast with our skin).
Question #4: What makeup techniques and products do I want to use for Questions #1 through #3? For instance, for Question #1—if you’ve said that your eyes are your best feature, what eye makeup products and techniques will you use to highlight them? Will you just use mascara? Or, will you use eyeliner and eye shadow as well? Then we’ll go ahead and determine the products and techniques we’ll use for our answers to Question #2—our least favorite feature—and Question #3—the area of our face where we have the least amount of facial contrast.
Running Through The Process
So let me run through this process—and demonstrate–so you can see how it works. For Question #1—what is my best feature—I’ve chosen my eyes. Although my eyes are small, I do have a lot of real estate area to play with to emphasize them to make them look larger. For Question #2, my least favorite feature is my skin because of age spots and discoloration on my eyelids and in other areas. And for Question #3, the area where I have the least contrast is between my skin and my cheek area and my skin and my lips. So, I want to create more contrast in those two areas. As I demonstrate, I’ll be focusing on Question #4: the techniques and types of products I’ll be using.
Be Patient
Now at first as we get accustomed to the new routine we’ve created, it will definitely take us more than 10 minutes. But, as we get used to applying the products we’ve chosen and to the techniques we’re using, we’ll be able to increase our speed and eventually be able to complete the routine in no time flat.
