Let’s talk about how to disguise your tummy that just shows up in perimenopause – uninvited.
Dealing with body changes that come during perimenopause and menopause is not fun! But I do have some fun ways you can dress to disguise your tummy and start feeling better about yourself in the process. Wearing the right clothing that suits your body shape can make a huge difference with how you see yourself and how you feel. I have seen this firsthand, having styled women for over 20 years.
But what is the right clothing? And does the ‘right clothing’ look different at different life stages?
The simple answer is yes! What worked for you even a few years ago may not work for you now. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up on style and opt for fuddy-duddy, ill fitting or uncomfortable clothes. Having experienced some of these perimenopausal body changes myself, I have tried and tested these styles on my own body and that of my clients.
“What worked for you even a few years ago may not work for you now. “
Peplum Tops – A Great Way To Disguise Your Tummy:
I remember getting ready to go out to watch some live music on one of my ‘really bloated days’. I wanted to create a fabulous date night look but some of my regular go to’s just weren’t working. Then… the shimmer peplum top.
The peplum top works wonders to give you a waist and then flare over your tummy, de-emphasizing it. They were in style a few years ago and have made a bit of a come back, so if you find one or have one in your closet already, go grab it.
Not all peplum tops are equal, so you do need to find one that isn’t too long that it makes your hips look wider and you need to wear pants or jeans that balance the volume. To see how that works, watch the video.
Slim Leg Jeans – The Perfect Compliment
For my night out, I wore my shimmer peplum top with a pair of stretchy slim leg jeans and a vintage leather fitted vest and felt fabulous.
Girlfriend, at this stage of your life, it’s worth investing a little bit of time and money to get a few pieces that help you find your confidence again.
Tune in for Part Two where I will share even more tummy disguising styles.
