Beauty Thought Leader: Elise Marquam-Jahns
If you’re tired of trying hyped-up beauty products that fall flat, here’s makeup that works for mature skin; tested, loved, and regularly used by Elise Marquam Jahns.
I don’t know if any of us will ever reach the point of thinking, “Wow, I’ve found the best makeup product in each makeup category that helps me look my very best.
So that’s it, I’m done, I never have to try another makeup product again.” Most of us will most likely continue to be curious and try new products that are deemed to be super innovative or break through products for mature skin.
But, I have to say that I’m regularly reaching for the products I’ll be applying in today’s video because they not only solve some of my major mature skin issues, but they also just plain help me look—and feel– my best. So I’m excited to get ready today using these top fave regularly reached for products which can truly tansform our mature skin.
Fabulous Magic Cream:
The first product I want to share with you today is my moisturizer. Now I have to say that I’m not the least bit happy about having fallen in love with this product.
In fact, I resisted trying it for years– but my downfall was getting a tiny free sample size. It’s Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream. But oh my gosh, it not only does a fabulous job of moisturizing my skin, but it also feels amazing. If I close my eyes and apply it– I almost feel like I’m getting a spa treatment. It just feels that heavenly and luxurious and gives my skin a healthy, plumped-up look with some glow.
If you ever want to really treat yourself, there is—fortunately–a mini size available. And by the way, this product is best for dry, combo and normal skin.
Clean Beauty Eyeshadow Palette:
Have any of you experienced your eyes getting more sensitive as you’ve gotten older? Lately, I’ve had some irritation when I’ve used some eyeshadows that never caused any issues for me before, so I’m especially loving a clean beauty eyeshadow palette called “My True Beauty.”
It was created for the brand Doll 10 by one of my favorite YouTuber friends: Sharlaee of Sharalee’s Box of Chocolates. These powder eyeshadows are formulated with a proprietary talc-free formula, which is triple milled to achieve a silky smooth consistency. It’s also formulated with mineral pigments that help create a velvety texture that blends seamlessly.
I hope this palette will never be discontinued because it not only doesn’t irritate my eyes in any way, but it’s also one of the most perfect color stories I’ve ever found in a nine-pan palette. The shades are neutral and warm tones and there’s a perfect combination of light, midtone and dark shades with 6 mattes and three shimmers.
Including a very light shade—as well as a deep grey-black shade in this palette is brilliant because it makes it extremely versatile.
I never have to reach for another eyeshadow palette in order to complete my eyeshadow look. I’m going to start with the lightest shade called “Good” and apply it all the way across my eyelids. I’ll combine “Faithful” and “Joyful” and use them in my crease and above my crease. I’ll apply a small amount of the deepest brown shade called “Temperate” on the outer corner of my eyelids and crease.
Let’s Combine Two Products:
On my face I’ll combine two products. The first is the B12 Base Thinner from the brand One Size— and the other product is Makeup Forever’s HD Skin Hydra Glow Foundation. I have to say that I wasn’t thrilled with this foundation when I initially tried it because the formula is a bit thicker than I prefer.
But when I combine the two products, the One Size product thins out the Makeup Forever Foundation just enough so it doesn’t look the least bit heavy or cakey on my skin and it also feels lightweight. The One Size product is an oil-free pearlescent mixing medium that’s specifically made to mix with any foundation. This means that we can customize the coverage and finish of our foundation.
We can also brighten our skin since its ingredient of vegan crushed pearls, creates a lovely soft glow. In addition, it also has a water-based formula that grips the skin and helps prevent our foundation from breaking down which translates to longer foundation wear time.
We can create sheer radiant coverage by adding 2 two pumps to our foundation; a natural radiant coverage by adding one pump to our foundation; and full coverage with light radiance by adding half a pump to our foundation. I’m going to mix a pump and a half of this product with two pumps of the Makeup Forever Foundation to create a lovely glow.
Makeup That Works For Mature Skin Handles Aging Spots:
Next, I’ll tap on my Natasha Denona Hy Glam Concealer over my age spots. And to handle under-eye darkness, I’m going to use different products that I love on each eye so we can compare them. On my right oil I’ll go with my Bobbi Brown Corrector in the Shade Light Bisque and over it I’ll apply my Kosas Brightening Concealer in the shade 1.5.
I’ve applied the Sharalee eyeshadow shade “Patient” as my eyeliner along my top eyelid and under the lower lashes I’ll combine and apply the shades “Faithful” and “Joyful”. I also applied my Versed Mascara in Black. I love the length the Versed Mascara gives my lashes, and its clump-free formula.
Those of you who have seen some of my videos won’t be surprised by the contour stick I’ll use. It’s the Westman Atelier Face Trace in the shade “Biscuit.” I just purchased the larger size of this product during the Sephora sale, so I’ll use the larger size under my cheekbones, along my jawline and on the top of my forehead. I’ll use the smaller mini size—that allows more precise application—for my nose contour.
Blush Combination:
The blush combination I’ll create today has turned out to be one of my favorites. It’s a combination of the Haus Labs Blush in the shade “Glassy Lilac” with the Saie Beauty Glow Sculpt Cream on top as my highlighter. Haus Labs is a clean beauty brand and these blush balms create a really beautiful glassy finish.
They’re infused with Goji Berry Complex which makes the skin look plumper and they’re formulated with 70% skin care actives that boost skin hydration. One of the things I love most about this Haus Labs blush is how easily it melts into the skin, which makes it almost foolproof to apply.
And the word glassy in the name is really accurate since it’s not dewy, heavy or sticky. Instead, it creates a beautiful sheer veil of color that doesn’t accentuate any lines which is why I love it for mature skin.
The Saie Beauty Glow Sculpt Cream is a blush/highlighter hybrid that is not only moisturizing, but also has micropearls which create some glow. It beautifully melts into the skin to create a soft, diffused glow. It comes in five shades and I’ll use “Pinkglow.”
A Lipstick That Does A Wonderful Job:
To keep my lipstick from feathering, I’ll first apply my Doll 10 Lip Liner in the shade “Starlight” over concealer that I’ve already applied around my lips.
And I’ve found the matte lipstick from Catrice to do a wonderful job of preventing my lipstick from migrating which is a real issue for me. It’s a wonderfully soft and comfortable matte formula that glides on really easily. I’ll apply the shade 060 which is the light pink shade “Good Intentions,” first, and over it I’ll apply shade 080 which is a lilac-tinged pink called “Casually Overdressed.”
This next lip product is from Fenty Beauty and it’s their Gloss Bomb Stix. They’ve recently come out with a shade extension of shimmery colors which I’m all about– and I have two of them which I love: “Flamingo Fling” which is a gorgeous shimmery pink and “Icy Amethyst” which is a gorgeous shimmery lilac
And just for the pure fun of it, I’ll apply the Extreme Shine Lip Gloss from Essence in the shade “SPARKLING PURPLE” over it.
These are some of my top fave makeup products which I think can truly transform mature skin. And I hope you’ll share any top faves you’ve recently discovered as well.
