Food For Your Soul: Dawn McGee
Let’s face it we’ve all got a lot going on these days. It’s so easy for all of these feelings of busyness to turn into overwhelm.
“It would be so easy to let all of this busyness to turn into overwhelm.”
Busyness Turns Into Overwhelm:
I do believe that having a simple plan in place prevents overwhelm in your life. A simple structure that is easy to follow, is also easy to stick to. That is the key!
I recently launched a new program, and hosted a one-day summit. Plus, my kiddo is going off to college next year, and it’s acceptance decision season. On top of all that, I’m traveling more and I am juggling so many things right now.
It would be so easy to let all of this busyness to turn into overwhelm. Here are a few strategies I use to prevent this from happening:
1. Create a Routine:
Your morning is the first place to start. Why? It creates the tone for the rest of your day. Set an alarm for a few minutes before your usual wake-up time. Take a few minutes to yourself before the day starts. Trust me, you will thank me later.
2. Manage Your Time:
Don’t fill up every minute of your day, leave gaps for those unplanned things that always pop up. And if nothing comes up, use that time for yourself. Read a few pages of your book, meditate, or have a cup of tea. These small gestures my help prevent overwhelm.
3. Remain Flexible:
Routines are amazing but they should not control your every move. So if there needs to be a tweak here and there, adapt accordingly (it’s not the end of the world, I promise!).
4. Nourish Your Body:
Make sure that you’re getting plenty of water and that you’re getting good PFC3 (protein, fat, carbs) meals throughout the whole day.
Don’t forget to prioritize your health and well-being, so you can truly enjoy all the things that you love. You know that you can’t go back in time and change your health habits from the past but you can start today with a fresh perspective. Every day is a chance to start anew!
We all know that consistency and small manageable changes are the best way for you to get long-term fabulous results with your health. That’s why having a simple plan is key to consistent success.
“Every day is a chance to start anew!
Overwhelmed With Your Health:
If you’re feeling overwhelmed with your health or wellness goals, you may want to throw up your hands and say, “I don’t know how to do this. I don’t wanna do this. It’s too much work.” That’s okay, take a step back, take a deep breath, and focus on doing just one thing.
Here’s a great quote to pull out on those days:
“You don’t have to figure everything out today. You don’t have to solve your whole life tonight. And you don’t have to tackle everything at once. You just have to show up and try. You just have to focus on the most immediate thing in front of you. And trust that you will figure out the rest along the way” – Daniell Koepke
Focus On Improvement:
What’s the first step you can take to move forward? Just focus on a one percent improvement at a time, that’s all you need.
Keep asking yourself that question, and you’ll find yourself making progress toward your goal. I promise.
