Food For Your Soul: Dawn McGee
As summer is in the rear view mirror and autumn wraps up, we ease into winter. I know many of you might be feeling a bit off.
A Real Mood-Changer:
The end of summer and autumn can be a real mood-changer. But don’t fret! I’ve got a heartwarming story to share with you. A story that highlights the incredible power of your mindset. It all unfolded during a day filled with mixed emotions as I dropped my kiddo off for their freshman year at UMass Amherst.
Sending your child off to college is like riding an emotional rollercoaster. There’s pride, excitement, and this undeniable sense of loss all rolled into one. But amidst all those swirling emotions, I stumbled upon a valuable lesson. And I can’t wait to spill the beans.
“You can either mourn what’s behind or celebrate what’s coming. Sometimes, you can even do both.”
In the afternoon of that unforgettable day, I had the honor of celebrating with one of my teams who had just completed the 100 Days of 1% program. These folks were positively glowing, wearing their program shirts with pride. And radiating a contagious sense of accomplishment. It was a full-blown celebration, and it made me realize something big.
In times of change, guess what? You’ve got a choice.Â
Celebrating The Amazing Journey:
You can either mourn what’s behind or celebrate what’s coming. Sometimes, you can even do both.Â
So, as I continued with my day, I consciously decided to focus on celebrating the amazing journey ahead. My child had graduated high school with flying colors. And was now diving into a new chapter of life at a fantastic college, hungry for knowledge, and new experiences. Sure, it was bittersweet, but it was also a moment of immense pride and excitement.
My incredible 100 Days team reminded me of a message that I’m thrilled to share with you today: You can achieve your goals, no matter how big or small, and embrace change. It all starts with how you choose to look at things.
