Fashion Fridays, Kuel Life Thought Leader: Tracy Gold
When we are going through body changes, it’s really tempting to resort to wearing black in attempt to ‘hide’ or ‘cover-up’ everything.
But did you know that wearing color can work just as well, in fact, even better?
Color That Suits You For Your Changing Body:
Firstly, let me say that attempts to cover up, seldom work. In fact, they often make you look bigger than you are. Big baggy clothes in black just create one big block of fabric with no definition or shape. Yet, we seem to believe the lie that if we wear black, no one will see what’s underneath.
“let me say that attempts to cover up, seldom work. In fact, they often make you look bigger than you are”
I’ve been styling women of various body shapes, sizes and ages for over 20 years, and let me tell you that I have seen the power of color first hand. These have been my observations, my fashion tips for wearing color:
- A color that suits your complexion can make you look 10 years younger. When you wear a color that suits you, it lifts your cheekbones, brightens your eyes and gives you more color in your face even if you aren’t wearing make-up. If you are nervous about wearing the ‘wrong’ color try wearing cobalt blue or turquoise. I have never met a woman who doesn’t look good in these colors.
- If you want to try a color you are unsure of, compare it to a color you know works for you. How does the color make your cheeks and under eye look? If your eyes and under eye brighten and your cheeks look lifted and more rosy than usual, then it’s your color. But if you look more pale and the circles under your eye looks darker, then it’s not your best color.
- It is true that wearing a solid color can show underwear lines and cling in all the wrong places. This is why I think women often opt for wearing black. But there is an alternative. Wearing color in a print is a great way to go. Prints disguise a multitude of things and allow you to add color to your look without worrying about revealing too much. How’s that for a yes to the fashion tip to wear color?
