We are smack dab in the middle of summer so there is no better time to get your chic sandal game on.
I don’t care how amazing your clothes look; if you don’t have the right shoes to complement them. Sensational summer sandals are the icing on the cake when it comes to your beautiful breezy looks.
GO FOR THE NEUTRALS
If you are a shoe person, then skip this paragraph. You will not limit your shoe intake, so I won’t try to convince you to stick with neutrals. But, for the rest of us who have a budget, stick with neutral colors when you buy sandals. Consider shades in tan, beige, taupe, light grey, white, and light pink. These shades will work with almost any outfit. Metallics are also considered neutrals and I love the spark they bring to looks
I hesitate to mention black because I feel it can look very dark in summer. If you go with black sandals, make sure they has details that brighten them up like gold hardware or a cork heel. It’s summer, lighten up!
GO FOR COMFORT
Since we are in mid-life, our feet have gone around the block more than once. Several of my clients have foot problems; so I need to find sandals that are comfortable. I promise you, I will not be recommending stilettos any time soon. (Maybe another time.)
When it comes to sandals, my number one choice are wedges. They give you some height and lengthen your legs without sacrificing comfort. I usually buy a new pair of wedges each summer and these ones from Sofft were the winner. (see above photo)
Not into wedges? Another style to consider are slingback sandals. These don’t slip off easy like flip flops and there are several styles which give good support. Slingback sandal styles can go all the way from flats to sky-high platforms.
Platforms are gaining in popularity and I’m starting to see styles that I would actually wear. With platforms you have the benefit of extra height but have a flatter foot bed. Being 5’2, I could use a good pair of platforms!
Now what about flip flops? Unfortunately, flip flops don’t really have the polish factor that I want to add to my client’s wardrobes. That being said, sometimes you just want to have a pair of shoes that slip on easy. I scoured the internet and found a couple of styles that offer better than average foot support.
Take a look at some of my faves for Summer shoes.
